Hey there cyberpunk enthusiasts! I’ve been digging into Neuromancer and noticed a lack of discussion on mental illness in the characters. Armitage, Case, and Riviera all seem to have some serious mental health struggles going on. Armitage’s instability, Case’s addiction, and Riviera’s disturbing behavior – there’s a lot to unpack!

It’s surprising that there aren’t more papers out there exploring this topic. Do you think cyberpunk’s worldview clashes with psychoanalytic theories? Shouldn’t modern methodologies be able to analyze Gibson’s work effectively?

What are your thoughts on this? Any insights into the mental health themes in Neuromancer? Share them with me!
